Decisions, Decisions, Decisions
How do you do make decision?
I usually make decisions by flipping a coin if I have one.
A year 5 student said they make decisions by playing rock, paper,
scissors
Someone else said that they weigh up all the options and
then decide.
Sometimes we make decisions for the election or for who is
going to be school council.
The school council is a very important decision to make.
They help fundraise for charity’s. This is a good practice for when you become
an adult and have to make very tough decisions.
The election is an extremely important decision to make
because it for the London Mayor.

Year 4’s Trip to Kidzania!
Kidzania
is a world of wonders, where you can make your dreams come true! That’s exactly
what Year 4 did! Kidzania is a place where you can be anything you want. For example
a Fire-fighter, a Policeman, an Al Jazeera news
reporter, or even climb a building! You can make Cadbury chocolate and an Innocent
Smoothie! They give you 50 Kidzo’s to start with and the city is called Kidzania
City.
!Daily mile with a smile!
Miss Chaouki has started a new craze
called the daily mile. It evolves all the classes
running, jogging or walking (plus chatting to your friends) For 15 minutes any
time of the day. It is to exercise yourself so you are not too tired to learn!
We will be doing it in the top playground, by the way one mile is 16 laps
around the top playground (tiring I know!).But you don’t need to do all 16 laps
on your first try! We will work up to it as a goal. Class teachers have to
start on 3rd of May! The daily mile is super fun, see you then
friends!

Its Goood To Be Green!
Good news in Avonmore!
We are learning to take the responsibility for our own behaviour! You may wonder how. Well with our new 'It's good to be green boards.
'It's good to be green' is a new indicative to help all Avonmore children improve their behaviour. Everyone starts the day green, which means a green card and hopefully the day finishes on green.
For misbehaving a warning is given, followed by the amber card, unless of course behaviour improves. If it doesn't, well the red consequence card is given. We hope you don't get that one! Remember, it's so good to be green.

A New Head, Q&A!
1. How many schools have you worked in and which is your favourite?
A: I have worked in 11 schools and my favourite would have to be Saint Marcus primary school. I worked there for... 6-ish years.

A: No.
3. Do you prefer chicken nuggets or chicken wings?

A: I do bake! I make coconut cookies and some fruit cake and such.

A: No, but I used to. We had a cat before, but I loved my daughter's cat called Gin-John.

9. White, Milk or Dark chocolate?

The Past Helps Fund-raise for Sports Relief!
On the 16th March, Avonmore had a day to fundraise
for Sports Relief. The majority of the school dressed up as athletes or wore clothes
from the snazzy 80s and 90s. We even had someone dressed as the footballer from
the fake goal incident, Maradona! Sports Relief brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world's poorest countries. In the morning, years 4 and 6 had a
fun activity in which they got into teams of 4. Then they ran around the
playground, searching for pictures of famous athletes. While they were
searching, they filled up a chart of the names of the athletes and their sport.
Throughout the day, different classes went with another class to the top
playground to do a variety of activities. Year 5 and 6 played dodgeball and 1
and 2 ran an obstacle course that included hurdles. It was a great flashback to
the past that we will never forget!
Farewell My Friend...
As we have known for a few weeks now, our beloved head
teacher, Mr Hale, is leaving us this week. We decided that we should ask him a
few questions.
Q1: How was your time in Avonmore?
A1: I don’t know how to answer this questions because there’s
so many things that have happened, but it has never been dull or boring and I
have laughed a lot.
Q2: What’s your favourite thing about the school?
A2: I think my favourite thing about the school is the
openness of the school site which make us part of the community and aside from
the work, it’s a place where children can have fun.
Q3: If you could improve or add anything to the school, what
would it be?
A3: Make places to park scooters, a bigger hall, a big
kitchen to cook school meals, maybe a music room, a swimming pool, swings, a
see-saw, a go-cart track and perhaps a place for ponies.
Q4: Are you happy with the new head teacher?
A4: Mrs Standing seems like a very nice lady and she seems
very caring and thoughtful and wants to know all about the school.
Q5: Will the bloggers still get special treatment?
A5: You’re going to need to ask your new editorial chief.
Q6: Do you want to leave?
A6: I feel very sad to be leaving but that’s because there’s a lot of good and
happy memories and a lot of people, but the sadness is, I think, healthy. It
has been a very happy time and I think it’s time for me to finish at Avonmore
and to let someone else be the head teacher with new ideas and things they want
to do.

Houses of Parliament trip!
On Wednesday 5th of March all the School Council
went to the Houses of Parliament. They went by tube from West Kensington to Westminster
and had a fantastic time. When we got there we got a tour of the Houses of
Parliament and went to the House of Lords and St Stevens hall. Afterwards we
went to the education centre and went in a workshop. In it, we learnt about the
Suffragettes who were a group of woman who wanted woman to be allowed to vote.
They chained themselves to a rail so that the men would let them vote! How ridiculous
is that!? And we also learnt people should be treated equally. After that we
had our lunch and got some badges some people got a poster.

A Day of Leaping
You know those cool little flip animations that Google puts
up when there’s a special event? Well, there was one yesterday. As many of you
may know, yesterday was a special day that only ever happens every 4 years. No,
it’s not the Olympics. This special day is called a leap day. In February,
there are 28 days. But, on leap years, there are 29 days in February which means
we have one extra day at school (boo hoo!) and 366 days in the year. But, there
is one question that lingers in my mind.
Does it make sense that we call it a leap year?
Avonmore's Unfortunate Loss in Football- A Recount from One of the Player
Avonmore and Melcombe’s teams had worked hard and had
finally got to the final match out of the first six although only one team
could win the match.
The match was played at Hurlingham Park on Friday 26th.
At the previous match Avonmore played really well (but they have never met a
team as good as Melcombe!). Melcombe’s team was wearing blue and yellow and at
the same time Avonmore were wearing green, white and yellow. During the first
half, Avonmore controlled the ball perfectly but Melcombe did edge in a goal. Lucky
for Avonmore, one team member scored a goal. It was 1-1.
During the second half, it was getting tougher. Not too long
after the referee blew his whistle and the two teams shook hands and the
outcome was 3-1 to Melcombe. It was a shame because we lost but Melcombe were a
really good team.
Is Avonmore in or out…EU part 2?
Will UK survive on its own or will there be a civil war about
food, housing, taxes, bills and shipping from EU. We think UK should stay in the
EU because if we weren’t in the EU then traveling through euro star would cost
a lot. It is £99 now but it will become more.

Amazing Animals!
Recently
Year 1 met some amazing animals; some were a snake called Toffee, a rabbit
called Logan and a hamster. Some of the Year 1’s said “My favourite animal was
the rabbit because it was so cute!” Another one said “I was scared a lion or giraffe
without a cage was going to roar at me!” Before the Year 1’s came in they had
to wash their hands and sit in a circle. They enjoyed it a lot and loved seeing
a frog change colour! There was a blue box with a snake, a cricket and a millipede.
They were really excited about being with the animals. The bunny was very
fluffy and had sharp claws. Toffee the snake was very slippery. The bunny had turquoise
eyes and big ears. It was really exciting for them! When there is a lot of
noise the frog jumps a lot.
My experience talking to these Year 1’s was very funny as
they were very excited and animated!
