SAT’s Practice

With Christmas and the production out of the way, Year 6 has been focusing a lot on their SAT’s. They have been practicing since the first day of the new term. Miss Driscoll really wants us to pass our exam this year and she is doing a very good job training us! We are all trying our best!

Trip To Age UK

In the Autumn a group of 8 people went to Age UK with 2 teachers. Age UK is where the elderly go to have fun and be looked after by volunteers. We walked to Greyhound Road and then walked right passed where we were meant to go. A very nice man named Rob rushed out to greet us and bring us inside. When we were inside we saw the food that we collected and donated to the Age UK. Rob said that, “This is half of the things you have brought!” All of us were gobsmacked with the amount of food we have brought. After we got a tour around Age UK, the best bit was the spa. Then we got to meet some of the elderly who we have helped. Later on, they invited us back to help serve up the food to the elderly.  Before we left, Rob gave us a useful piece of advice: be nice to your parents. One day they might be in here and you’ll have to look after them.

Birds are watching us!

The Bird Feeders
This 2014 year 6 has been feeding birds. They have been feeding birds because birds have less time in the winter to find food to eat. Birds are in great danger because of the lack of light and water is freezing so Avonmore have found a solution by feeding the birds. Every week 3 different year 6 students volunteer to feed the birds. There are 3 seed feeders for everyone to fill. This is helping the birds to live through the winter.

What shall we do with the tree?

The tree from Christmas past

What happened to the missing post?

The wooden spoon made from the wood of a Christmas tree

Lying in our quiet area is our Christmas tree which has been undecorated, de-lighted and bare. May it rest in peace (in the quiet area, get it?!) Our old Christmas tree was made into a spoon.  This year we are pondering what we could do with this year’s tree. One idea to make it into a pole for the nursery playground because there is a missing pole in the fence. But, if you have any other ideas we would love to hear them.  Please let us know your ideas!

Achievement awards

So Many Acheivements!

I've recently been awarded a certificate of achievement! Only one student per class got chosen, and a different one every term. I’m so proud to receive one again, as some children have never got one before! I got it for ‘writing excellent stories’. I like writing stories, which is why I’m so pleased to have gotten one. Congratulations to everyone else who got one too!

The questions for year 6, year 5 and year 4 were written by the year 6 school councillors. We all enjoyed quiz day!!!
