Swimming Gala

On the 1st of March, a few children from year 6 and a few children from year 5 went to Fulham Pools to attend a swimming gala. We all had a go at racing and it was great fun!!! Firstly, we had a free style 50m race. Secondly, we had a 25 metre breast stroke. Then, there was a 25 metre back stroke. Finally, we had a relay race and then it was the end. Some children went back to Fulham Pools on Friday and one of our pupils came first place in the 50 metre backstroke! Even though some of us lost, it was the taking part that mattered.

Maths/puzzle workshop

Yesterday all the classes went into the hall to participate in a puzzle workshop at different times. Yr 6 and yr 5 went last and we had a lot of fun. We were split up into 10 groups. The puzzles were very hard because the leader of the workshop, Muffy, said you had to think outside the box. The first game was an iceberg which wobbled and you had to put as many penguins on it without them falling off. The second game was a puzzle map of a road and we all had 20 pieces. There was not to be any dead ends and roads leading off anywhere. The most challenging part of this puzzle, however, was that all pieces fit into each other on every side! The third puzzle were tubes and again you couldn’t make any dead ends. The fourth puzzle was a castle and you had a picture and 5 blocks with 3 umbrellas and you had to try and make it. The second last game was a hexagon shape and you had coloured shapes and the same colour couldn’t touch each other. The last game was a pattern puzzle and hardly any groups finished it, except mine. We had a great and puzzling time!

Rabbits on the loose

On Monday the 28th of February, two year 6 students found two rabbits mysteriously wandering around the year 4 garden. No one knows how they ended up in the garden but all we know is that they were there. The first rabbit was white with brown spots and the second one was fully white. But mysteriously disappeared one night and were never to be found again...

Fun Apparatus!

In year 6 we have been using the apparatus in P.E . The week before half term was our last week using them and it was very fun!! First, we had to set up the apparatus. We used the box, the frame, the ropes and we also used benches, horses and mats to create a new activity. A few of us were able to climb all the way up the rope and some of us were able to jump all the way over the horse with the spring board. A lot of us tried to see if we could balance on the thin side of the bench and turn around. We put a metal bar across one side of the frame to the other side of the frame. A lot of us could do flips around the metal bar. We all enjoyed the apparatus A LOT!!
