Did you
notice anything blooming in the ks1 playground? It’s bright yellow and very
beautiful…Daffodils! Daffodils are just about to bloom in the ks1 playground so
keep an eye on them and who knows when they’re going to be actual daffodils? What
are the daffodils going to do when the winter returns? Will they still be here?

#Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree Let’s Say Goodbye to you! #
Let’s
say good bye to our Christmas tree and hello to spring. Our Christmas tree is
currently by the entrance of the top playground, tied to two trees looking
nice. On the past Christmas tree we’ve made spoons, coasters and naughts and
crosses. We made bricks out of the old Christmas tree decorations and are now
in the corridor, feel free to come take
a look. If you have any ideas of what to do with the Christmas tree come to Mr Hale.

Introducing Miss Lawrence, Part 2
Okay, we’re
back with part 2 of Introducing Miss Katie Lawrence; so you know what that
means, interview time!
Firstly, what
age did you start learning an instrument?
I learnt the
recorder when I was in Reception.
Next
question, what is your favourite instrument?
That is a
very hard question but I am going to have to go with the Irish Bazouki.
What is your favourite song?
Queen, Bohemian
Rhapsody.
Lastly, are
you enjoying your stay?
Yes, I am
very impressed!
So that was
Miss Katie Lawrence’s interview. Make sure she feels welcome!
Brilliant Boats!
On Wednesday
13th January Year 5 went on a massive World War 2 war cruiser! We
went by train to Tower Hill and saw a great view of the river! When we got
there we got in to our groups and went exploring! There was a gun turret
experience, it smelt like oil and gas! There were another 4 upper decks, as
well as 2 lower deck floors! It was so big most of the groups got lost and had
a reason for it, it was really big! We had 3 hours to “explore!” and then went
to have lunch. There were lots of greedy pigeons around but they flew away. We
walked to Mansion House Station and everyone was exhausted! By the end of the
day we were so sleepy we could’ve slept a whole year! But everyone did have a
fun time!
Surprising, fact filling Saint Paul’s cathedral
On Friday 8th January Year 2 went on a trip to Saint Paul’s Cathedral. They travelled by tube. As
they arrived a man called Steve guided them to the cloak room. After that,
their first activity was about the fire of London and who could recall the most
facts. Next, they were split into two groups and went to go see eye catching
statues in the church. Then, they ate lunch and finally they went to see the
huge dome.

Introducing the Musician, Miss Lawrence
*Sigh* It’s been a
while now since Avonmore could proudly say, ‘we have a savvy music teacher’.
But that has been brought back since there is a new music teacher! (This isn’t
breaking news this is fixing news!) Her name is Miss Lawrence and she will be
helping pupils with their musical spirit on Mondays and Tuesdays.
So that was the fixing news and hopefully Avonmore will
settle back into their old lessons.
Stay tuned (get it, tuned, music!) for part two, an interview
with Miss Lawrence.
Arts and Crafts Day!
Recently the School Council organised a very fun day for
Avonmore! It’s arts and crafts day! Arts and Crafts day is when we all choose 4
fun activities to do and on the day we did them! There was Sewing Puppets,
there was computer fun, fridge magnets, designing T-shirts, painting and in the
afternoon there was song writing and there was origami. The theme for the day
was peace and we all made new friends from other classes. What a fun occasion!
