Year 5's trip to Chelsea Physic Garden

In year 5 we went to the Chelsea Physic Garden. We went on the tube to get there and walked the rest. We went into this classroom and the man told us things to do with plants. We then did some drawing in a booklet which had a chart. And then we went outside. We went in two different groups- one group went to put stuff on their sticky card and fill in the chart in their booklet and the other group learned about flowers somewhere else with a man, then we switched over.We had lunch outside and ran around for a bit. After we did that, we went back to the classroom and did some printing on clay with what we found outside. We went back outside to do some planting. Some people planted linseed, sweetcorn, peas and flowers. We then went back to the train and that was the end of our trip.

Miss Clement's Post

Well the continuing freezing weather has meant that the planting season has got off to a slow start. The daffodils are just about blooming but look out for the snow drops and crocuses around the big tree.

Children in the nursery and reception classes have been planting vegetables seeds which have been put in the greenhouse to keep the frost and cold off them. It may still be a bit cold for them to germinate so we all need to be patient.

Year 5 go to William Morris's House

On Thursday the 4Th March 2010, year 5 went to Kelm Scot house where William Morris used to live. We saw where the maids used to live and work. We went to a room to see what William Morris used to do he made wallpaper, silk and furniture. We learned about the equipment that the maids use to use and what they were for. We then went to another room which was downstairs and we made stain glass windows with markers not actual glass because it was to dangerous. Some of us copied it and some made there own up. When we went there and back we walked across the bridge and walked under the bridge.

Sharing our blog with the rest of the school

On our last session we had two children from each class. We first showed them how to log in and what the user name and the password was, We then showed them what a blog is and what you can do on a blog. After we asked them if they had done anything or gone anywhere special in the last couple of days. Next we typed out what they were saying and then after that we read through to make sure we hadn't done any mistakes and made an appropriate font and colour. I had two children from the year 2 class. and they found a blog quit interesting and fun. They learnt how log on and type the user name and password quit quickly and they treated the laptop very sensibly and carefully.
